Aura-Soma Tarot reading

Absorbing colour is “So simple, it’s simply amazing”, said Vicky Wall (1918-1991) who created the beautiful Aura-Soma coloured equilibrium oils.

The name Aura-Soma actually means ‘light made manifest in living energies’ and it is these energies that were conceived in meditation by Vicky. Born the seventh child of a seventh child Vicky had an ability to see coloured auras from childhood; when she lost her sight in later life, this ability became much stronger. She then developed the Aura-Soma color system and was able to help it become firmly established as a new healing modality prior to her death.

The aura is the living energy field that surrounds the body. When all the colours around us shine bright, then it is likely that we are feeling well and happy. Sometimes our energy is low, our colours lacking, and it is then, when we are feeling off-colour, that we need to take action to restore balance.

The following is the entry on Aura-Soma on Wikipedia:-

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aura-Soma

Aura-Soma is a system, based on colour, which provides you with a way of assessing yourself. Practitioners of the system assert that it is both scientific and spiritual in nature, and functions as a meta-system which can relate to other systems such as the Tarot, the I Ching, the Kabbalah etc. Many of the concepts from Jungian psychology and other studies of mythology have also been related to the system. While not claiming healing in the sense of Acupuncture or other remedial systems, practitioners regard it as able to address the whole question of what lies behind disease (referred to as dis-ease).

The central thesis of the Aura-Soma system is that colour represents a universal symbol system (called "The Language of Colour"). This attaches great spiritual significance and psychological connotations to colour combinations chosen by an individual. These colour combinations are represented by two-tone bottles (For example, red over blue, green over yellow).

The bottles are made from two colours of organic oil and water, mostly of different colours, each of which, it is claimed, represents a series of symbolic, spiritual, mental, emotional and physical concepts. They are numbered, with 105 bottles to date. After a selection of favourites is made, a practitioner assists in interpreting their meanings. While sounding superficially like the processes of other systems like Tarot, Aura-Soma practitioners do not regard their discipline as akin to Fortune-telling or Divination.

The bottle system is now governed by a central company (also called Aura-Soma) and the term 'Aura-Soma' is a registered trademark of that company. The grading of practitioners and teachers is managed by ASIACT, also a registered company.

The Bottle System
In 1983 the Aura-Soma® Colour Care System was created by Vicky Wall, a chiropodist, pharmacist and herbalist. She was 66 years old at the time and had become clinically blind. All her life she could see Auras around people, plants and animals and she retained this ability even after she lost her sight. She later said she had no idea what she was doing when she found herself one night in her old laboratory formulating a mixture comprising different layers and colours of natural ingredients in glass bottles. Over the following years thousands of people were attracted to the dual coloured bottles she created. People choose their favourite bottles and, Wall claimed, that this allowed her to arrive at a formal body of solidly researched scientific knowledge on colour. She noticed that people with the same problems choose the same bottles and that the colours they choose were reflected in their Aura. This led her to ask questions such as: Why did people choose certain bottles as their favourites? What effect did the bottles have on their lives? What were the individual's life dynamics before and after exposure to or use of the bottles? Over a period of a few short years, Wall claimed, with absolute certainty, that "Colour speaks a language of its own". Today the process of unlocking the secrets concerning Aura-Soma is in full swing by researchers and practitioners who particularly focus on the consciousness aspects of the system. There are currently thousands of teachers, students and practitioners worldwide. Wall died in the early 90's but the work is continued in the Aura-Soma headquarters in the UK under the direction of Mike and Claudia Booth.

Currently Aura-Soma is based on 105 vibrant dual coloured bottles. It is intended as a non-intrusive colour care system which may offer the opportunity for awareness and transformation, empowering clients to help themselves. A trained practitioner can help interpret the meaning of the colours in relation to deep emotional, mental, physical and spiritual issues, with an initial consultation lasting up to an hour. It is believed by practitioners that, through their colour preferences, Aura-Soma brings consciousness and insight from a deep inner level to the everyday lives of clients. During the consultation they may gain insight into their current situation and the larger pattern of their life story. The colour choice may reveal the gifts, challenges and opportunities of the client. The practitioner helps tease out what is needed to be overcome so that the gifts can come through.

Aura-Soma practitioners are keen to make it clear that this is not fortune telling. They believe that in making a selection of preferences, it is as if something deep inside the client responds and knows exactly what is going on in their life. "You are the colours you choose and these reflect your beings' needs" claimed Wall. Colour may both open the doors to hidden rooms within and is a means of healing what is found there. It is claimed that Aura-Soma is especially suited for those who wish to come to a new focus in their life and/or who wish to develop themselves.

Aura-Soma is not a therapy in the traditional sense since it makes no claims to heal medical conditions. What it aims to do is address the whole question of what lies behind dis-ease (sic). Aura-Soma focusses on what is right with clients, not what is wrong with them. It is said to support them to come to a greater ease within themselves.

The Language of Colour
Aura-Soma practitioners believe that Colour is the language through which nature speaks. It is part of the underlying order of the universe. Colour is a means by which connections can be made. Things of the same colour resonate together, each colour relating to a different aspect of life. The practice and the products of the Aura-Soma Colour Care System are all colour related.

In traditional systems, such as the Chakras, colour is related to the different parts of the body and their underlying physical organs, glands etc. Each of these physical attributes in turn is related to emotional, mental and spiritual states.

History
Aura-Soma was created by Vicky Wall in the 1980's. She was a 66 year-old, clinically blind chiropodist, pharmacist and herbalist at the time who claimed to see Auras around people, plants and animals. After she formulated the first bottles, thousands of people were attracted to them, allowing her to arrive at the current understanding of colour and its affects on humans, animals and the environment.

Over time the colour care system has also gone on to generate more than just the dual coloured bottles. It has created Pomanders, Quintessences (Master essences), Colour essences and Archangeloi sprays - all colour related.

Aura-Soma was the original dual coloured bottle system developed by Vicky Wall. Since its inception however it has been copied and imitated often, with as many as 10 similar systems now found around the world.

Aura-Soma is looked upon by its practitioners as an evolving, rather than a static, system. In addition it is thought to reflect what is emerging for the collective as well as individuals. It is currently managed by Mike Booth who creates new bottles and products when he feels the time is right, as Vicky Wall did.

Aura-Soma international
After the initial start in 1983, Aura-Soma rapidly gained recognition in the UK, where it appealed greatly to Alternative and Complimentary Therapists. Subsequently it travelled worldwide, establishing itself strongly in Denmark, Germany, The US, Australia, Italy, Ireland and Japan.

It continues to expand, currently developing in Hawaii, Korea, China and South America.

Practitioners and Teachers
Certification: There is an Aura-Soma Code of Practice that is regulated by the Art & Science International Academy of Colour Therapeutics. ASIACT maintains the Aura-Soma Practitioner Register and issues Practising Certificates to those who work according to this code. Each Practising Certificate is valid for two years and only those Practitioners with a current Practising Certificate are featured on the Aura Soma Practitioner Register.

A current Aura-Soma Practising Certificate shows that the Practitioner is continuing to be updated in the Aura-Soma system and works according to the practices set out by the Academy.

Training: The Aura-Soma Practitioner training currently comprises 4 levels. Levels 1, 2 and 3 each involve attendance at an accredited course. Each level involves broader and more detailed instruction in the Aura-Soma Colour Care System. Level 4 involves the completion of a piece of original research on colour, together with presentation of a required number of case records and researched responses to colour related questions. A Practitioner's level of training is featured on their Practising Certificate.

Students may become Practitioners at any time after the completion of Level 2, regulated by laid down guidelines. At Level 4 the Practitioner has demonstrated experience of working with Aura-Soma and understanding of the principles of Aura-Soma and may develop a full public practice.

Finding a Practitioner: Practitioners and teachers can be found at the ASIACT.org website by selecting a country and then the area within the country. The Practitioner Register is then ordered by level of training, and then alphabetically. A further refinement of choice provides details about the other skills and interests of the practitioners.

Aura-Soma provides a non-intrusive and self-selective way to introduce colour into our lives. The contents of the jewel-coloured equilibrium bottles can be massaged and absorbed through the skin to restore and re-energize the aura or magnetic field. Just to look at the wonderful array of brightly coloured bottles is a powerful tonic.

Aura-Soma was conceived in inspiration by Vicky Wall, who was a chiropodist and apothecary with extensive training in pharmacology. Vicky had tremendous intuition; In fact, from her childhood on, she was both psychic and clairvoyant. Everything Vicky had experienced in this lifetime seemed to prepare her for the guided meditation she received which instructed her to create bottles of beautiful jewel-like colours. Each bottle contains two fractions: essential oils in the top half with the lower fraction containing spring water infused with herbal and plant extracts, both contain crystal energies. When shaken, a temporary emulsion is formed which can be applied to the skin so that the colours (and the plant and mineral energies) flow into the body and through to the relevant chakra (or energy centre). In her book "The Miracle of Colour Healing" (Aquarian Press 1990) Vicky describes Aura-Soma as a ‘non-intrusive, self selective soul therapy’. Initially, she believed that the bottles were to be used on a physical level, however over the years of understanding and observing their effects it has become increasingly evident that they work primarily upon consciousness. In a consultation, a client would choose 4 bottles from a selection of nearly 100. The choice intuitively acknowledges the inner understanding of the soul’s path, mission and purpose. It also reveals the challenges and obstacles chosen by the client that provide key lessons from which to learn in this lifetime.

The key difference with Aura-Soma is that the individual has chosen the ‘remedy’ (potential) for themselves, and has not relied on anyone else to tell them what to do or what they need. The client can gain insight into why a specific symptom or emotional problem has appeared in their lives, and work to reach the point where they no longer need it. Aura-Soma offers training courses in its colour system and a range of colour-related health and beauty products. Today Aura-Soma is represented in over 47 countries with Mike Booth carrying forward the vision as Vicky Wall predicted and wished. Aura-Soma is constantly developing, changing and moving forward, because like us, colour is not a static entity - it is a growing, dancing energy which reflects in it’s influence on all life and form. Aura-Soma is a pioneer of Colour consciousness and is leading the way in this very exciting discipline of the future.
