SoliTarot?

The classic patience card-game of Solitaire (eg Microsoft's Solitaire, which is actually "Klondike" Solitaire) has the cards dealt face-down in rows, with the last card in each row turned face up. There are seven cards in the first row, six in the next row dealt on top of that, then five, etc. The aim is to build ascending suit sequences, in a foundation zone, from Ace up to King.

However... in SoliTarot, instead of Hearts, Clubs, Diamonds and Spades, the suits used are Cups, Wands, Pentacles and Swords from the Colman Smith/Rider Waite deck. The Major Arcana are excluded. Instead of 13 cards per suit (Ace to King), there are 14, (Ace to Ten, then Page, Knight, Queen and King).

The rules are the same. "Red" suits have to alternate with "black". i.e. Cups and Pentacles (Water and Earth) have to alternate with Swords and Wands (Air and Fire).

You will need Javascript enabled.

First Select a Game - choose "SoliTarot" for turning the remainder-cards over in threes, or "SoliTarot (1 Card)" to turn them over singly.

If you have a problem getting used to it, revert to the standard form, but with 14 cards per suit, by clicking on Options, and chooding the "Small - with Hearts, Clubs, Diamonds, etc" option. If you want to revert to using Tarot cards, choose the option "Normal - with Tarot cards." You can do this in the middle of a game without losing the display.

The cards in the "Normal - with Tarot cards" version, show: the number of the card, the suit as indicated by C, P, S, W, for Cups, Pentacles, Swords and Wands, and a colour-border, to help with the elements.

If you are truly confident about your knowledge/memory of the cards, try the option "Larger - with Tarot cards, but not so easy."

When loading the game for the first time, have, er... patience, as there is a large graphic, ( over 370Kb incorporating all the cards), to download first.

...... And yes, if you persist, it does come "out"!

The Solitaire script was developed by Kyle Unverferth, who gracefully placed if free in the public domain; it was then adapted by The Fool.

No known problems with IE-Version 5 and upwards.
