SoliTarot? The classic patience card-game of Solitaire (eg Microsoft's Solitaire, which is actually "Klondike" Solitaire) has the cards dealt face-down in rows, with the last card in each row turned face up. There are seven cards in the first row, six in the next row dealt on top of that, then five, etc. The aim is to build ascending suit sequences, in a foundation zone, from Ace up to King. However... in SoliTarot, instead of Hearts, Clubs, Diamonds and Spades, the suits used are Cups, Wands, Pentacles and Swords from the Colman Smith/Rider Waite deck. The Major Arcana are excluded. Instead of 13 cards per suit (Ace to King), there are 14, (Ace to Ten, then Page, Knight, Queen and King). The rules are the same. "Red" suits have to alternate with "black". i.e. Cups and Pentacles (Water and Earth) have to alternate with Swords and Wands (Air and Fire). You will need Javascript enabled. To enjoy SoliTarot to the full, use the browser display in full screen made (Toggle key, F11). Then you won't miss the Undo, Redo, and Deal Again tab options at the very bottom of the page in standard browser mode. First Select a Game - choose "SoliTarot" for turning the remainder-cards over in threes, or "SoliTarot (1 Card)" to turn them over singly. If you have a problem getting used to it, revert to the standard form, but with 14 cards per suit, by clicking on Options, and choosing the "With Hearts, Clubs, Diamonds, Spades" option. If you want to revert to using Tarot cards, choose the option "Normal - with Tarot cards." You can do this in the middle of a game without losing the display. The cards in the "Normal - with Tarot cards" version, show: the number of the card, the suit as indicated by C, P, S, W, for Cups, Pentacles, Swords and Wands, and a colour-border, to help with the elements. If you are truly confident about your knowledge/memory of the cards, try the option "Larger - with Tarot cards, but not so easy." When loading the game for the first time, have, er... patience, as there is a large graphic, ( over 370Kb incorporating all the cards), to download first. Double-clicking a card - instead of dragging it with the mouse cursor - will automatically shift a card to the correct place. The "Undo" button at the bottom of the page is multi-level.... and don't forget that if you want to see (or play) SoliTarot in the equivalent Hearts, Clubs, Diamonds & Spades, you can use "Options" to switch from Tarot cards to normal playing cards (or vice versa) at any time without losing the state if the game that you're in. ...... And yes, if you persist, it does come "out"! (The alternative game of "Golf" is one where you have to build upwards or downwards in sequence, on top of the face-up card shown at the bottom. The colours of the suits don't matter - it's just the numbers that have to go in sequence, building up on the bottom row by dragging cards from the pool of face-up cards above. When you get stuck, click on the far right face-down card to give you a futher start. Aces are low)
